Jean-Yves P. Lendormy
For over thirty years Jean-Yves “J.Y.” Lendormy has provided legal counsel to individuals and to businesses regarding private matters and in litigation before courts of the State of California and the US Federal Government. He is a managing principal of Luscutoff, Lendormy & Associates.
Jean-Yves Lendormy is a highly experienced French speaking lawyer who counsels a wide range of international, European and other French speaking clients. His experience with business start-ups and multi-national business transactions has resulted in a unique understanding of the US immigration laws, especially as applied to members of the European Community.
Mr. Lendormy’s insightful and practical legal counsel is informed by his many years of successful experience as a trial lawyer. J.Y. Lendormy has conducted jury trials and court trials in tort, contract and business cases. His trial work has involved issues of general negligence, breach of contract, corporate law, partnership dissolution, business torts, fraud, breach of fiduciary, property damage and personal injury, including grave bodily injury. In 2011, he and his team of personal injury associate attorneys obtained a $61 million mediation award for a group of French tourists who were killed or injured in a bus accident.
Mr. Lendormy received a B.A. in International Relations from San Francisco State University in 1976. In 1981 he was awarded a Masters of Business Administration by the University of San Francisco School of Business; and that same year he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. During 1980 he served as a judicial Extern Clerk to the Hon. Robert Aguilar, Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Jean-Yves Lendormy is a member of the State Bar of California (1981) and is admitted to practice in all the State Courts of California. He is also a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court (1990) and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts of California (1981) and the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (1989).
Mr. Lendormy was born in Paris, France and is himself an immigrant to this country. He knows firsthand the challenges facing newcomers to the United States. He also is keenly interested in helping newcomers enjoy the abundant opportunities available in California and the Bay Area.
With these things in mind, Mr. Lendormy devotes a considerable amount of his time to the French community in Northern California. He is one of two approved Legal Counsel to the Consulat General de France in San Francisco, a role he has held since 1994. From 1993 to 2009 he served as legal counsel and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lycee Francais International La Perouse in San Francisco, a non-profit primary and secondary French school. In 1995 he incorporated and was legal counsel to San Francisco Bay Accueil, a not for profit organization for French newcomers in California. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the French American Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco from 2000 to 2007.
Mr. Lendormy also devotes his time to a variety of Bay Area civic organizations. He is a past Member of the Board of Directors of Larkin Street Youth Services. And he regularly contributes his time and talents to the Easter Seal Society. J.Y. Lendormy is himself an avid sailor and was skipper of the winning boat in the 2007 Rolex Big Boat Series on San Francisco Bay. In years past he was an active participant in the San Francisco Mechanics Institute chess tournaments and has received an expert rating from the U.S. Chess Federation.
